Here, 58 poems of land and sea and space  divide into four groups, each preceded by an original sketch by Ruth Reed.
 
    "Long Distance" begins at Magdalena Bay, Baja California and completes itself at Utah Beach, Normandy, France.
 
    "Cross Country" are American settings from Alaska  across to the Atlantic shore.
 
    "Home" contemplates the urban and suburban life in present spectacle and remembrance.
 
    "A Year at the Shore"  remembers weekends at a Southern California beach town: dogs and kites, sand and shops, fireworks and birds.
 
    The single poem, "Astronaut", on the back cover,  completes the text.  $15

Vilma Potter reaches back to the lives of grandparents as though they were figures carved on a totem pole.
The poems introduce readers t6o a family story that movers across three centuries to the lives of her great grandchildren born in the 21st century.
 
Each generation is preceded and announced by an original pen-and-ink sketch by Ruth Reed, a painter, sculptor, and herself a poet. $10
